Good morning women drivers! In this month’s issue of Car & Driver Magazine, I noticed an
interesting article called “Ladies Who Launch” which is about, unbelievably, a
Porsche driving school for women! The two day course was
held during a weekend this past September at the Porsche Sport
Driving School in Birmingham, Alabama. The class has some background
information about the mechanical workings of the cars (see our Engine 101 section), but mostly the class is outside and hands-on with the real thing:
Porsche Boxsters, Carreras, Cayennes, and more! This class is a lot of fun for
gals who have always dreamt of driving a sports car or going off-road.
Accompanied by instructors, the course is completely safe and you won’t have to
worry about wrecking a $100,000 sports car. While the cost of the class is not
too expensive at $2500-$4000, the curriculum is identical to the class for our
male counterpart, which of co urse is a compliment to our driving skills. For
some nail-biting fun, check out the driving school at: http://www.porschedriving.com.
Would you be daring
enough to try out a course like this? In the upcoming weeks, we will have Gail
Smith, a driving instructor at the Porsche Driving School here at Women Drivers doing a guest
blog and chat. I look forward to your comments below!
