- The Garmin is the premiere in-car navigation system - that can also be detached and used when walking
- It is compact, portable and easy to use with big, colorful graphics and a sensitive touch screen. One thing to note is that if you have long nails like some ladies, the touch screen can be difficult to maneuver
- The Garmin has an internal battery for out-of-car use. In the car, plug into your lighter.
- The Garmin provides superior directions over all other navigation systems that I have tried. The Garmin is designed for simplicity, and that's a great thing for anyone who is technologically-challenged. The only controls are a power switch and USB port - all other controls are by touch-screen
- It weighs roughly 9 ounces, making it very portable and easy to slip into your purse. Keep in mind not to keep your Garmin in your car, due to theft concerns and poor weather conditions!
- Note that if you view the Garmin in direct sunlight, it can lose some of its sharpness. The street-level maps were all correct and updated and included points of interest, such as hotels, restaurants, airports, and malls.

Key Features

- One of our favorite features is the "fuel cost estimator". You tell the Garmin where you want to go, and it will tell you, based on your car's type (which you input when you register), how much that should cost you in fuel. It is great for trips. There are lots of other useful features. As with most other devices, the Garmin will automatically recalculate your route if you veer off course, and you can create detours around construction zones.
- If you lose the required satellite amount, a text and voice message alerts you to the lack of reception. The map can be displayed in an overhead 2D view or a 3D-horizon view, and the zoom-in/zoom-out icons are clearly marked on the touch screen.
- Settings can be customized, including map colors and orientation, language, the amount of detail shown onscreen, and route preferences.
- The battery is rechargeable and provides up to 4 hours of power
