The Nüvi 260 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps, including a point of interest (POI) database with hotels, boutiques, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and Nüvi takes you there with 2-D or 3-D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. In addition, Nüvi 260 accepts custom POIs, such as school zones and safety cameras and allows users to set proximity alerts to warn of upcoming POIs. |

| The Garmin Nüvi 260 is incredibly easy to use right out of the box. Just touch the screen in certain areas and menus come up to help find what you need. The directions could have been more robust, as certain features, oddly, weren?t even listed in the instructions. If the address is not in the preloaded map it says "address not found". It?s not idiot-proof and it won?t know if the right address has been entered. But, all in all, we don't know what we would do without it now. Battery life was almost five (5) hours as expected ? however, we recommend keeping it plugged in most of the time. One of the best features is that the unit says the street name of your next turn which can be very helpful when there is more than one street to choose from. |

| Here are a few occasions when this GPS has already been invaluable: Driving in an unfamiliar city and the low fuel light comes on. So we pulled over and asked the Nüvi to find not only a gas station ? but a specific brand. In seconds, it locates five stations within ten miles and tells us which direction they are and ranks them by closest station. We selected the one preferred and hit GO and, wham, she take us there. Yes, we determined she is a she. Nüvi 260 finds the nearest coffee shop (Starbucks OR Seattle Best), the nearest Chinese restaurant complete with phone number, and, she answers the age old question "how much longer" even when the route had a detour. |
